"There's no place like home."

Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz.

The first leg of the tour is behind us! This week, we took the show from College Station, Texas, to Orange, Texas, and all the way to Conway, Arkansas, right outside Little Rock. As of yesterday, everyone involved on the show, including crew and management, can all get a well-deserved break for the next two weeks. On March 4th, I'll be getting on a plane headed for Miami, Florida, traveling from city to city for another three weeks. Until then, I'm taking the time to eat honest-to-goodness homemade meals, watch some Succession, and, of course, get some much needed R&R with the wife.

I've unfortunately overestimated how much free time I thought I'd have on the road, and I continue to make empty promises about what I plan to write about and when I'd have them done. Now, with these two weeks off, I have nothing but time to get to work and stick to the schedule. I've put together a plan to finish writing Between the Lines #1, and you should expect that by Thursday, along with an honest account of what it's actually like to live on a tour bus day after day, later in the week. I'm actually grateful for the break from the bus and the show because now I have a chance to unpack all the junk I ended up not really needing. Now, I can repack the essentials I wish I had brought, like laundry soap and Tupperware. I'll be laying out all the revised survival techniques in Bhaer Necessities Part 2, expected next week before I head to Florida. And of course, Part 2 of Mychal Eats America will be up this week so you can continue to feel jealous over my late night fast food runs.

The blog posts aren't all you have to look forward to! Some show days, just hours before we were needed for sound check, a good handful of my cast mates would be hard at work recording self-tapes for various auditions going on back in New York. Auditioning is the job, getting to perform is just a bonus. I was amazed at everyone's tenacity, sometimes recording in their rooms or in the hotel gym. It got me thinking that I should be a little proactive and try to record some songs and monologues in our home studio. That way, should some opportunity come, I'll have material ready to go and not have to scramble to record something as long as I can help it. I already plan on recording five new songs for my media page, plus one or two surprise projects. Keep an eye out for more of those as they come!

I'll be honest, getting to perform this show and engage with strangers all over the country has been incredibly gratifying, but the reality is that it can often feel very isolating and emotionally taxing. I'm confident that I can come back after this break refreshed and ready to set the world ablaze.

And scene.
