"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship."
Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
My last few days with Heidi were spent doing what we do best: gaming until 3 AM, sleeping until noon, and snuggling. We saw Dune: Part Two, had many romantic dinners, and absolutely tore through the first seasons of The Handmaid's Tale and Succession. We also made time to finally build our LEGO Up House, one of my Christmas gifts to Heidi last year, and it found a home on one of our living room shelves. We had a less teary-eyed farewell this time around because I'll be seeing the lovely Heidi in California in just a few days!
During the layoff, I abandoned my plans to record some more monologues and songs, and opted for resting more. I am, however, hoping to be more pragmatic while I'm on the road and preparing for when the tour wraps in May. I've got a to-do list as long as my arm, and big plans to hit the ground running once I get back to New York.
I'm gonna level with you guys, the first four days back with the show have not been without their challenges. En route to California, a passenger suffered a medical problem aboard the plane, and for the sake of the family’s privacy I won't say any more than that. We made an emergency landing in Colorado, and arrived two hours after our expected arrival time, which affected some of our company pick up times. When we did land, it was raining in L.A., which just felt like an omen of some kind, you know? Once we got back to doing the show, everyone was feeling jet-lagged and exhausted while trying to do a musical. I'll speak for myself, but I didn't feel 100% comfortable about my performance until our Sunday show. Only up from here.

And scene.
